I am looking to purchase a camera but I'm a little against the wall as to the one to choose. I contacted Pentax and their reply seemed to stray me towards the new model which, in a way, was expected. I am looking at the K-30, K-5, and the K-5 IIs from Pentax. The K-5 and K-30 would be cheaper as once the K-5 IIs launches(especially used), but I am not sure if I should empty my pockets a little more for the K-5 IIs. The differences are not too colossal as well. Everyone's opinion on the matter is of course, highly appreciated.

Also, I anticipate people to point me towards Nikon or Canon and I would like to add that I'm leaning towards Pentax for it being weather resistant as I hate being afraid of getting my electronics wet.

Re: Pentax?

My second camera was a Pentax K1000 I've also always been a huge fan of the Pentax 67 and of the Pentax 645 digital(!), have always appreciated their outstanding quality at accessible pricing, and will always have a soft spot in my heart for Pentax.

My recommendation is to buy the least expensive camera that will genuinely do the job for you and that's available in the time frame you need it. But if you have the budget to comfortably afford the newer camera and that's what you want, then go for it.
