Shadow mask or Aperature grill

Seeing i have to send my monitor back I may upgrade to something else if its better. Do you think the shadow mask or the aperature grill is best. My last one was aperature grill and seemed quite good.

Schwartzie,

I have two ViewSonics, one is an aperture grille (17"), and the other is a shadow mask (19"). I don't think I could pick one over the other. Recently, I had a Sony 19" monitor, and naturally, it was an aperture grille. It was very hard on my eyes, and after several calls to Sony, they gave me a full refund (although I'm still waiting for it to arrive). The ViewSonic was my choice to replace it, and yes, it's the one you had. This one was much easier on my eyes, but I don't know just exactly why that is. Maybe it had something to do with it being a shadow mask?? I don't really know. But I'm more than satisfied with either of my ViewSonics.

Ed

hmmm well still undecided LOL. Could be this one doesnt look real clear because of whatever that uneven color problem is. I have had a couple of mags that I really liked but i dont know what they were. didnt say shadow mask and showed no aperature grill lines.
