For most uses I think LCD is a great solution. Unfortunately, photo-editing is one of the very few areas where I think LCD isn't up to the task. It just happens to be my main area of interest, so I use CRT.

They have merged, but the two monitor lines are very different. And I do like Mitsubishi monitors, but there are a lot of great monitors out there.

Don I run the Mitsu mentioned earlier in tandem with an Hitachi 17" TFT. The Hitachi is fine for most purposes but the quality of image files displayed on the crt far outstrips it.

I finally bit the bullet and bought a 2nd 2070sb. There was a rumor it was being discontinued (although my new one says it was manufactured in Jan '05), plus I finally got sick of juggling PS and Word for writing.

Two anecdotes:
Dell is having a monitor sale (10% off and free shipping, which isn't trivial on an 80lb monitor) but showed zero inventory. This was fine by me because I'd be better able to afford it in the future, and just really wanted to get in the queue with that price. But the morning after I ordered it I got a "just shipped" email. Now I'm typing this on it

I couldn't get the Naviset software to work with the 2nd monitor, so I emailed Mitsubishi. I got a surprisingly prompt reply saying Naviset doesn't support multiple monitors so it was impossible. But I'm too stubborn for that, and found out the two monitors were using different drivers. I matched them up and now Naviset works great on both! (I emailed Mits with my discovery, so far no reply).

Interesting comments on the naviset Doug as it worked finr when I ran the 2070 and an Hitachi TFT in tandem but declined to cooperate when I went back to using a 19" mitsu CRT with the 22". I tnink I'll have another play after seeing your comments. Not yet seen a TFT that is on the same level as the Mitsu.
