HDR, retouch, water, rapids, old houses

I was trying out free software for hdr images because CS3 sucks at it. I canīt recall the name of the software right now but the result was very hard, and suited the image well. I continued to work on it without a real plan and now itīs beginning to feel ready. Clearly Iīm not after realism, and the flow of the water will most certainly change more.

In short: How do you like it, and do you have any constructive critisism? :-)

Re: HDR, retouch, water, rapids, old houses

First an explanation of how I came to the conclusion for my suggestion.. While viewing this excellent HDRI on my laptop I had the screen tilted the wrong way and the picture was very dark but the bright rocks looked good.. when I got the proper angle the rocks looked a bit brighter than the rest of the sceen... had I not seen the darker rocks before... I would have never noticed the difference and would have said Great looking picture! GOOD JOB!!

BUT..

as a suggestion and it's purely subjective.. a simple masked multiply layer will bring the bright area of rocks more in line with the rest of the scene

Click the Gif and wait three seconds and it will change showing the subtle difference

And I still think It's A Great looking picture! GOOD JOB!!

Your suggestion made a huge difference, and I will definetely consider that, depending on how the image develops. I know the highlights were a bit blown out, but hadnīt come up with a plan for it yet.

Big thanks, OlBaldy! :-)

Re: HDR, retouch, water, rapids, old houses

Hmmm, moved to the HDR section?

It may not be obvious, but the rapids and water are heavily retouched and put together of several different images, and for me this is a retouch project primarily. I may have done it too well then. ;-)
