Comments on Mend Tool

Hi Richard

I received the Mend Tool today that I purchased. Installed it without a problem on the first try. (PSE2 and Win2000 Service Pack4). Got a little confused learning how to use the Mend Tool following the readme file, but figured it out after going to the online tuturial for the Mend Tool (URL at the bottom of this post) Took a couple trys, but after I figured out how to use the tool the results were VERY impressive!!!!
Awesome Tool Richard!!!

Just a FYI about what step I found confusing.... I found step 10 confusing in the Readme file that is zipped with the Mend Tool

10. Run the Apply portion of the Clone Meld. This will take you
through any steps--mostly invisible to you. Some input is required
mostly having to do with values you will determine using your brush
size.

I couldn't figure out what step 10 above was saying. May be a little clearer if it said "Click on APPLY on the Mend Icon in the Effects Tab". I kept trying to hit apply on the Mend_Setup instead of the MEND icon, and the image wasn't being corrected. The Tutorial was a GREAT help and a link to it in the readme file might also help others.

If you want to see how I did on my first try with the tool, and I spent very little time...look at the attached photos of my son. The first photo is the original photo. In the second photo, I used the clone tool to edit out the dark circle under his eye (right eye on the photo). In the 3rd photo, I used the Mend Tool to edit out the dark circle under his right eye. In the photo I edited with the Clone tool, it looks like he has make-up under his eye. Looks much more natural with the Mend Tool.

Thanks so much Richard!!! VERY COOL Tool !!!

Thanks for the comments. You can also adjust the effect by lowering the opacity of the correction to get a result somewhere in between.

Glad it is working out for you!
