Hidden Power for Elements 5.0?

Hello,

I have the book and the tools for Photoshop Elements 4. I now have upgraded to Version 5. Will the tools work with PSE 5? On the surface it appears that they do not, since there does not seem to be a Previews sub folder.

If they don't, will there be a revised set made available?

Thanks in advance.

Don S.

Don,
I am working on revising both the book and the tools for Elements 5. I hope to have everything available Dec. 1

That's great, Richard. I hope there will be some way for those of us who have purchased your PSE 4 book can somehow get instructions or revised tools to incorporate them into PSE 5 at a reasonable cost.

I would agree with Don -having purchased both hidden elements 3 and 4 I hope there will be a reasonable way to upgrade.

It's good to hear you've embraced 5.0. Looks as though they've changed the directory structure around some for the installed software. Where did the actions go?

Re: Hidden Power for Elements 5.0?

ahem...they've ALWAYS worked. At least the Hidden Power tools in previous versions. ;-)

Free tools will be available by Nov. 20th. There has been a slight delay.

Re: Hidden Power for Elements 5.0?

I see that Curves commands embedded in actions now work with Elements version 5 (as long as they're not interactive). That's nice; there are just some things that can be done with curves that can't be done that easily another way (e.g. lightening the black point, or darkening the white point).

Re: Hidden Power for Elements 5.0?

Actually there are usually a number of different ways to accomplish anything in Photoshop (or Elements). Other tools native to Elements (I realize Curves are native to Elements, and really have been with the exclusion of Elements 4, but they have not been freely editable) that can accomplish the same thing as curves...like gradient maps. For simple things like lightening a black point or darkening a white point, I might choose Levels before Curves.

Things may not look the same but creative use of tools is traditionally what Hidden Power has been all about...they said you didn't have Channels and couldn't make a CMYK file in Elements either, and I found both of those claims were not true.

Newbie Re: Hidden Power for Elements 5.0?

Hello,

I noticed in Richard Lynch's post of 11/26/2006 that you can save a
CMYK version of an image from Photoshop Elements 5. We are making
a CD cover to send to a CD publisher who requires the image be CMYK.
Is it true that with the use of the Hidden Power tools that a CMYK
image can be saved? I found the website, but it did not address that
specific issue and we don't have gobs of money to be spending on
potential tools that may not help. Please let me know if the downloadable
Hidden Power tools for Elements 5 will support CMYK. If so, we'll be on
it like a fly on honey!

Thanks,
P. Erickson

Re: Hidden Power for Elements 5.0?

I am way late on the tools as another adventurous writing project got in the way. In any case, you can save a CMYK file as a 5 part DCS file. I expect to have the tools (really) next week.
