I´ve quite recently installed David Lynch´s Booster Elements software consisting of three plugins: Curve, Mask and Swap Element into PSE 6 for the Mac. The trouble is that the plugs somehow have been registered in the program, but when I start up Elements I get an error message, saying something that the three plugins won´t load. I get a feeling that there´s something wrong with the whole package. Please help me solve this mystery (very rare on the Mac platform). All the best wishes Sonny

Re: Booster Elements Hidden Power The name is Richard, btw. You might reconsider the idea that there will be something wrong with the entire package. If that were the case it would never work for anyone, and you'd have to have been the only one ever to order it or even try it out. I'd have to be a very sloppy business person and/or a criminal hoping to rip millions of people off so I could retire and be off to some foreign country before any body noticed. Selling something that flat out didn't work would be really bad press for someone who maintains websites and teaches courses in the subject of image editing and is known by thousands of people...So it is pretty unlikely that the package is flawed. To clear up any misconception, the plugin is made by humansoftware, not by me. More likely something simple is going wrong, which can be anything from an improper installation, to conflicts on your system because of the way it is configured. Can you post the exact wording of the error message?

| Re: Booster Elements Hidden Power I've replied to this by direct mail. The reason why I suspect there's something wrong with the (packaging of) the package is that when I try to make an alias of the folder package the icon doesn't change to that of a proper PS plugin but shows up as that of an ordinary folder. | Re: Booster Elements Hidden Power Sounds like you may not be installing this correctly. Are you following the installation instructions? |

Re: Booster Elements Hidden Power I've followed the directions for the installation, tried a couple of workarounds like creating an alias of the damn application and pasting it in the plugins folder, tried to make an optional plugins folder and nothing works... Now why don't you try to give me my money back (or some really clever advice)???

Re: Booster Elements Hidden Power Well, um, here's some clever advice...why don't you ask for a refund from who you bought it from? You didn't buy it from me. Instead of trying loads of work-arounds, how about installing the PLUGIN in the PLUGINS folder instead of shortcuts which probably wont work. Don't move the folder, don't make a shortcut for the folder, don't make a shortcut for the plugin. MOVE the plugin to the PLUGINS folder and RESTART. You need to pay a little more attention to what you are buying beside reading the instructions which I am pretty sure you have not followed, because they do not say to make a shortcut. This is called operator error. There is nothing wrong with the plugin.

Re: Booster Elements Hidden Power BTW, What is in the folder you are moving to the plugins folder, and where is the plugin that you are moving the folder to?

Re: Booster Elements Hidden Power Hello, For God´s sake, can't you read what I'm saying? The plugins ARE IN THE PROPER PLUGINS FOLDER together with all the other functioning plugins! The money is no big deal. What bugs me is your response. I give up, you can't reason with or win against arrogant stupidity. Cheerio Sonny

Re: Booster Elements Hidden Power Just to be clear, you came in with a bit of a chip on your shoulder. The fact is, after reselling this for 3 years or so, many people have bought it and NO ONE has complained that it won't run. So, either you got a unique copy (unlikely, they all come from the same place), or something went wrong with the installation. If you have virus protection running during the install, if you don't use your firewall properly, if by some stretch of the imagination you have a virus on a Mac, if you chose the wrong installation folder, if you otherwise have not followed instructions, these would be reasons why it doesn't work. It would not be at all likely that the software is 'bad'. If the installer ran to completion and you do not have virus protection, somthing else is wrong with your system. If you do not have other add-ons, my suggestion would be to uninstall/reinstall Elements and then the package again. However, tech support for this product is best had from the people you bought it from -- it wasn't me. Try humansoftware.com

Re: Booster Elements Hidden Power Hello again, Finally, I'm beginning to see the light! I have an Intel duo Macbook Pro and I suspect that the plugins I bought from the Human Software company only runs on the old PowerMacintosh machines. Anyhow I'm so sorry for all the hassle! I enclose a couple of screenshot of the plugins folder and what's inside the Booster folder. Please inform me if I'm right or wrong. All the best Sonny

Re: Booster Elements Hidden Power I do not currently have this on my intel mac, but you may way to try this...move the three folders in the Booster folder out into the plugin folder. Are there files in the three inner folders named [something].plugin?? I am trying to contact humansoftware, but no response yet. we will get this resolved one way or another...but I am sure they will work.

Re: Booster Elements Hidden Power Hi again, Now this is what looks fishy to me, please see pic 1, showing the contents of the Booster file. Then inside the CurveElem1_6 file there are The two folders "Contents" and "MacOS". Inside the last folder is (see pic 2). In OS X you have to use the command "Show contents of the package" to peek inside the first folder, but in this case they're all ordinary plain folders. I can't find any Info.plist or Pkginfo files. Am I completely off the beaten track? Sonny

Re: Booster Elements Hidden Power There are two packages you can order...Did you order the Mac version? I assume so as if you ran an installer and it worked, it would have to be Mac...If the installer is a ZIP file, that won't tell much. I'm still trying to hunt down the guy that resells this...It shouldn't be long.

Re: Booster Elements Hidden Power I note here you are possibly running a foreign language version of the program? This may cause several issues, but here is an interesting potential solution to try. Go to where the Elements program is installed and locate the Editor application. CTRL+Click on the program icon and when the menu appears, and choose Info. When the info screen appears, under the General section, check Open Using Rosetta. Close the Info and restart Elements. OK?

Re: Booster Elements Hidden Power One might try it to see if it works... I'm trying to help here. If I don't hear anything from you about testing it, I will assume there are still other troubles and it isn't worth pressing the manufacturer to convert the plugin.
