Unable to download Hidden Tools

Hi Everyone,
Please excuse me if this is an annoyingly basic question. I've just purchased the Hidden Tools for Elements 2, and got a link to a page. I'd since closed that page while I was waiting for information that said I needed to right click the links.

If I try to get back to that page:
ftp://hppe21kooitnelspedfswasc@thebo....com/../../../
I get asked for a password.

I would appreciate any advice or suggestions on this.

I would use extreme caution in opening/downloading them unless you are sure of the contents... the files I found there are:

welcome.msg 131bytes

Richard Lynch, "thebookdoc" is a credible Photoshop author.... but I always recommend caution when downloading files from the internet...

Hi Anyone,
I've done some searching around the forums and found someone referring to a 'free rout' to the place where you can download the files. Could anyone please be so kind as to tell me where this 'free rout' is so that I can try to get the software that I've paid for?
I would really appreciate a bit of help on this. Thanks in advance.

In case I botched my reply to your email here is the link to Powertools free version route.

Once there, under Download, click on the button "Get Download Link". Fill in your details and You will be sent an Email with the link to the file. Make sure you download the HPPE7_v.7.0.zip file for elements 7

My main problem was that my ISP had sidelined the Emails containing the link as spam, Once I sorted that out it was straight forward.

On the same page are instructions on installation. This can be Quite tricky so you will need to be careful with it, especially if you are using Vista.

Thanks for taking the time and trouble to reply. Small hitches. I ordered the tools for Photoshop Elements 2. The link you gave is for version 7. And indeed the intallation instructions on the 'Readme' file apply to Photoshop namely: C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\
Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\
Photo Creations\photo effects

But my Photoshop Elements 2 is
C:\Program files\Photoshop Elements 2

And there is no sign of the directory '...Photo Creation\photo effects. So if you have any further suggestion, I'd appreciate it.

I said it was tricky. I use PSE 7. Even with PSE 7 the dircectory for Effects in C:\Program files\Photoshop Elements 7 does not exist. Power tools must be installed in:

C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\
Application Data\Adobe\Photoshop Elements\7.0\
Photo Creations\photo effects

You also have to delete one of the files which is rebuilt when PSE is relaunched after the installation.

I have had a quick look at Powertools for PSE 2 and the only free item I can see is "Hidden Power Tools Free Actions Player".

The Only Person that can really help you is "Richard Lynch" the author. He is best contacted through this forum.

I personally would upgrade to PSE 7 because many of the plugins etc are written for PSE5 or 6 and above.

You should use caution downloading when you don't know the source, and if the site you are visiting is not attached to someone who might have a reputation to uphold. You can find me if you need to. These files are checked for viruses, and there is nothing remotely dangerous on my site...You are more likely to download something harmful just surfing the web than you are to get something bad from my site. I am very conscious of the issues.

Speaking of issues...the issue here was either that the original poster was not using the right browser type or they were behind some robust security. There is nothing wrong with the links. The password above is not correct, and if it were it would not be a good idea to publish it in a public place like this forum, unless you'd like people to start using it to rip me off ;-) I push people to an FTP for the download, and the browser needs to be able to handle that. Some browsers, like Safari, do not.

As far as being careful with the installation -- you have to work very hard and do things quite differently than they are in the instructions to harm anything in the program or your system, and if you do, a simple reinstall of the program will fix whatever you do. Just follow the instructions I include with the package and on the web site, which are quite specific, and if you have questions...ASK.

It is not recommended to be using Elements 2 on Vista. Elements 2 was built LONG BEFORE Vista was even a gleam in the eye of Microsoft, and the file installation and structures do not match the Vista structures...I think you are bound to have trouble. Elements 7 is like $60 at amazon: http://aps8.com/elements7.html. Might be time to upgrade.
