| Tintype Dating Question http://www.pbase.com/cjmax/image/42028803 http://www.pbase.com/cjmax/image/41985990 I've taken a stab at them, but would like some imput from the outside. Perhaps someone can narrow it down a wee bit more for me (the current dates could be way off too). Thanks, Cliff. |

| Re: Tintype Dating Question the first one i would put at around 1880, give or take 10 years. the second might be a touch earlier by maybe 10 years and that's based mostly on the uniform pants of the man on the left (camera left). and again, plus or minus 10 years, but most likely post civil war. you could also check in the history forum for some dating tips and maybe some links to help you further. i'm no expert on this by far. i do have some old tintypes that dated around 1870 to 1890 or so and the clothing and hair styles are very similar to yours. |
