I read about a variation that uses a 5 second technique. Basically, just microwave it for 5 seconds and check it. If it needs a bit more heat, hit it for 5 more seconds. It shouldn't take more than 3 passes total. I tried it with some photos that glued themselves to an old album and it worked.
The drawback? The photos became a bit rolled up due to my pulling from the corner (didn't think of the spatula idea
). Nonetheless, leaving it under some heavy books fixed that.
The only reason I didn't use the blow dryer was because I had photos on the *other* side that were also stuck and it would have involved directly heating 'em.
