Post A nose problem

Hi everyone, i'm new in here, i was looking for some photo's to repair and found this gold mine and was wondering if anybody could give me a suggestion on how to fix the nose of the center person in this picture. i have attached the original and a copy i have started repairing but i always have trouble with noses and this one is starting to look like th elephant man.

any suggestions would be much appreciated thanks

I think you have been looking at it too long, the restoration you have done looks wonderful, you did a fine job, take the credit, stop beating yourself up, she don't look like an elephant man, its a good picture.

The middle nose is a wee bit sharper than the other 2. You might use the blur tool, at low opacity, and trace the outline of the nose.

Elephant Nose

One wonders what the original nose did look like. There was so much damage to the original photo that its possible the nose part got smudged over to the right (her left). At any rate I downloaded your corrected image and used the liquify tool to put it in a way that seemed to be normal.

I also touched up a little with a soft brush.

Hi missmab449,

Welcome to RP!

I think the biggest problem in your nose restoration is the lack of 3D feeling ... there is barely contrast between lights and shadows, so the result look rather flat and broader/bigger than the original ....

In my example, I've 'reconstructed' a thinner nose just to show you the power of using light and shadows ....
