water damage

Photo is water damaged and had to be scanned inside the (cracked) glass frame. I can't post the whole photo, but have included a small section. Looking for suggestions/ideas/experience on how to go about restoring.

thanks if you can help,
sinope

Water Damage

Well there are several problems with the image. The cracked glass. I used the clone tool to correct that. The picture has a magenta tint and in addition there appears to be marked texture in the photograph. It would be nice if you could remove the picture from the frame. There are several ways to remove texture. I used the Neat Filter and later used a Dust and scratches filter. As for the color I sort of cheated and converted it to black and white and then painted the skin color back in.

water damage

Phil,

I really like what you did, that is great! I'm ok with the cracked glass, like you said ... clone tool. I'm stumped on how to cure the patterened gray/texture though. Is the neat filter a download? I tried to remove the photo from the glass, but it always resulted in tearing so I left it as is.

thanks for your time and help,
sinope
