Sizing to Standard Photo Sizes (4x6, 5x7, etc.)

Hi All!

This one has is driving me a little nuts, and thought that maybe someone might have some suggestions on sizing images to standards “photo” sizes.

Issue – The original image is not a “normal/standard” size (4x6, 5x7, 8x10, etc.). After I have restored the photo the client wants it sized to standard sizes so they can print it on their photo printer. Yes, I know that I can size the image a little larger and crop it to size. But, how do handle it when you cannot crop very much off of the image? Is there a way to size the H or W of the image without or very little distortion? I usually will size just a large enough to crop to the standard sizes.

How do you guys handle this?

I just resize the canvas and let them know they are going to have borders.....
Leave it at that, it is a nightmare trying to explain aspect ratios to most folks
