Pen or Mouse !!

I've been using a Wacom pen for my work with Photoshop - but lately it's been hanging up and I have to move the pen to the top right corner of the pad to get the curser moving again. Then it will be fine again for a while. I think something is going kaput.
So my question is I've heard that a few people have been using some optical mouse (i.e. Logitech MX 510 Mouse) with good success. I understand that they are very accurate and very smooth.
What do you all use and whets your thought about an optical mouse with Photoshop

Hi,

I use a wacom pen and pad and would'nt be without it.

Have'nt tried an optical mouse yet, so can't comment on them. However some members here get terrific results using a standard mouse.

So I guess what I'm saying is, whatever you use, it's the user that really matters, and whatever you're using, the secret is, practice, practice, practice.

Good luck with whatever you choose.

Mouse is great for paths or freehand retouch work, I use to use mine all the time when I had one at work, then I changed jobs used the mouse all the time. I recentley decided to try go back to the pen but I have got so good with the mouse that I found the pen awkward to go back to. I knew I used to love it so wanted back but then I decided to just stick with the mouse, maybe I will change my mind again later

I just got a Wacom but I have never had problems using a ball mouse for photo editing. I got the tablet for drawing.

I have a Logitech Mx 1000 laser mouse and Wacom tablet. I don't use anything but the pen for photoshop. It's the best!
Just my preference though.
