| | | Help with slow shutter blur Does anyone else find it frustrating when a fairly nice picture is missed because of dumb mistakes. Could anyone offer any advice on fixing my picture? |

| | First of all, great shot. Now for the bad news.
If you're looking to get the fallen horse and rider in pin sharp focus, without the motion blur, then it isn't going to happen.
You can probably make some small improvement using one of the various sharpening techniques, but probably nothing that will really give you the result you want.
Most sharpening in PS and other image editing software is done by edge contrast enhancement, and this will only remedy very small focus problems.
Of course you could always go the other way, and exagerate the motion blur, making it a real feature of your image. |

| | | Here's about the best I could come up with using a filter called Focus Magic and then running it thru byRo's jpeg artifact remover action. With a little work you might be able to get a better result.
Cheers

| | | Chris, I also use AVG, updated this morning, and I got no warning. So either I should be worried, or you've had a false positive. Anyone else got a warning? |

| | | Whew! Was a little worried there. Never had "that" problem before. Glad everything is OK.

| | | It happens from time to time, particularly if you have Heuristic Analysis switched on, which I believe is default with AVG. |

| | | Motion Blur Well as previously mentioned its hard to make something out of nothing. Not all of the picture was blurred. I duplicated the layer and ran the high pass filter at about 2 with overlay blending mode. Then I masked the layer to sharpen only the areas that needed sharpening. I copied that layer and quit. Its a little better. |

| | | Had a bit of time, so had a go with your picture. As I said earlier, can't do too much with the motion blur, so I've tried to make the blurred rider the feature of this image. |

I call this method 'fighting fire with fire' ....
When I can't sharpen part of an image I'd like to enhance as I'd like to, I just blur and lightly desaturate everything else around it .... |

| | | A nice shot, as Gary said. I would rather bear this small imperfection than spoiling it with manipulative techniques. However I did give it a try. It did bring back certain features to an extent but the beauty was completely lost.
I used AstraImage and one of its filters, Van Cittert. Did play with the setting for quite a while before getting one acceptable result. |
