Talking Questions - Photoart

Hi,

I got Painter yesterday and did a quick cloned painting of a photo. I think it's way obvious that I got Painter yesterday and cloned a pic! I'd like some input on some of your favorite brushes and techniques, I need some more direction.

When I'm satisfied with my painting and I want to print it onto a canvas, should I go to Kinko's, Canvas on Demand, etc.? Has anyone printed to canvas and then gone over the brush strokes with clear acrylic? How are the results?

Sorry so many questions, I've been lurking here forever and they're all bursting out at once.

Thanks in advance.

Hi Camelot, welcome to RetouchPro. There is a specific Photo-Art forum here:

http://retouchpro.com/forums/forumdisplay.php?f=110

with lots of challenges to practice on and lots of hints and tips too You could also check out the Forum specifically for Painter started by Marilyn Sholin here:

You need to register but it's free and well worth it!

Congratulations on your first painting! You'll soon find out that it's really, REALLY addicting !

Thumbs down

Hi Camelot,

I work on a large format printer (ColorspanX) that has the capacity to print as large as 72" to 80'. The ink that we use for our Giclee prints on canvas is water base, but there are some printers out there that use solvent ink. If you use water base ink, you have to seal it with lacquer and then you can use acrylic or oil on it. I think that Kinko's does print on canvas, but there are many print places that now do it, so you should check around for the best prices.

I also am learning Painter. I love it, but it is a little intimidating. I like the job you did on your first attempt.

Cathy
