Dave.
Yes you were right. Changing to LAB does bring it correct. But far easier to take your initial advice and in this case leave the blend mode to Normal.
Thanks

Inskip
How are you doing? Did you sort that yellow cast?

Well here it is so far. What do you think, did I over do the red curve?

I think the problem (yellow cast) I was having before was because I didn't have the CMYK file at the top of the layer stack For some reason I didn't think I should put it above my adj. layers because I thought it would hide that info. But I guess by changing the mode to color it preserves that info.
This technique is totally new to me so I'm fumbling along...

Now, I'm trying to figure out how Gary fixed her eyes?? I tried his method based on the info provided, but was unable to preserve any detail-still black. i don't think fatOn3 didn't have much luck either.

inskip,

I think that is looking great. There might be a very slight red cast, but hard to tell.

The numbers in her skin look right.

As far as Gary's meathod for the eyes, I couldn't figure it out either. Maybe he will share how he did such amazing work.

I just got into Gary's effort and have to agree that the eyes look awesome. I never even considered being able to do what he did. I've tried myself and have come up short. Please share some more Gary! Fat's, too many variables to perhaps overcritic. Personally, I find Gary's with slightly higher cyan more pleasing (not necessarily right) but it's all about an image that speaks to us, right?

Cheers

Dave

Hi guys,

I replied to Donna with a PM, but seeing as you'd like to know, I'll go through it again, and try to add a little detail that may make things clear.

First I used quickmask to make a selection of the eye's iris (giving a U shaped selection) making sure to not select the pupil area.

Copied this, and pasted to a new layer. Now did a levels adjustment (not levels adj layer) on the pasted iris, brightening it much, much more than I needed it to be. I now applied a little gaussian blur (sorry can't remember setting), then reduced the opacity of the layer till the eye's iris looked how I wanted it to be.

At this point, the eye as a whole looked a little dark, the white needed lightening. However, I liked the balance between the iris and white, so didn't want to lighten one without a corresponding lightening of the other.

So, flattened Image.

Now I did a quickmask selection of the whole eye, and copied and pasted to a new layer. Adjusted using levels (not levels adj layer) again brighter than I needed (she looked like a Goauld at this stage), then lowered the layer Opacity, till eye white was as I wanted it.

By switching the "eye" level on and off, and adjusting Opacity as needed, I can easily judge the effect I'm getting. (This also applied when I was adjusting the iris.)

Can't really give any Hard and fast values, I do most of this kind of thing by eye.

Hope this makes things clearer, I'm not the best at descriptions.

Gary.

Sorry Gary, it's still not working for me

I selected the eye(minus the pupil), and put it on it's own layer.
When I adjusted Levels nothing really happened-it's still black.
Where exactly are you adjusting in levels?

Take the centre slider, and move it way over to the left. It will look horrible at this stage.
