Thank you all so much!!

It is such a rarity to encounter anyone who will take an active interest in someone else becoming better in what they do. Retouch Pro is a wonderful and very valuable site. After giving it a little thought, I concluded that if I out-sourced the work to someone, I would have to pay them to do it. I pay H&R Block for their service, I would pay a doctor for his service, etc., so why not pay Retouch Pro for theirs? I haven't made very much money to speak of as I'm relatively new in the process. However, I've determined that for each job I turn in and get advice on from Retouch Pro, they will get a percentage of the total take. I can't tell you all how much I appreciate your expertise and dedication. I quite thrilled to have discovered this site!

Please feel free to hold me to it.

You are all enabling me to develop what I only dreamed would be a possibility someday. I have held a sense of hopelessness after reading of all the training of people such as Katrin Eismann. I live in a small town, and the art courses at LCSC are pathetic at best (from what I've been told). So, what is the next step? Give up! Unless you have a rich uncle, you really can't afford to spend the hours it would take to attain the knowledge that you need to pursue this type of endeavor. By the time you devote 40 hours to your job, you're too tired to spend another 40 learning a new skill. Even God stopped working on the 7th day! At any rate, my word is true, and Retouch Pro is on my priority list.

Another way

Another way:

1. Select Channels
2. On the Red Channel, choo3s Select>All
3. Edit>Copy
4. Return to the Layers Palette
5. With the Background or Background Copy layer highlighted, Edit>Paste
you will see a B&W layer at the top of the stack
6. Brighten with a Levels Adjustment Layer and/or a Curves Adjustment Layer, ( slight "S" curve).

Thank you Ken.

That worked well, and quickly I might add! I printed this whole thread for storing in a notebook, and will spend the rest of the day experimenting with them all.
