Cropping Query

Any views on cropping this image. A friend has ‘borrowed’ it for a church calendar and thinks it needs trimming a little. I think the composition is strong but any observations please.

Your friend is crop-happy. Looks good just the way it is.

Thanks both, taking anything away wrecks the composition in my view. It was a lucky snap as the light went 2 minutes later.

Wow - what a great photo! I certainly can't see how cropping would improve it any (in my mind it would hurt it.) -Jeanie

Alas tragic news, the calendar committee have decided on a stock Christmas clipart image and my snap has been rejected ! Considered throwing myself in the moat but couldn't bear to poison the crocs !

Chris, If they rejected that photo for a "stock clipart image", then I think you should be glad the photo wasn't chosen. They obviously have no appreciation for high-quality photos and your photo deserves to be displayed/published in a place where people will appreciate it! -Jeanie

Why can't I have lucky snaps like that? I love that image. I also agree with everyone else on the cropping. I'm no photographer but I can certainly recoginze beauty when I see it. I always look forward to your photos Chris, they are such a visual treat.

Its interesting I've boxes of snaps from years gone by, badly composed, exposed, soft etc but I still hang on to them as they act as memory 'joggers'.

Stock clip art!??!! Egads, the originality of the groups train of thought leads one to suspect it suffered a collective crash of absolutely Olympian proportions. Did any survive or were they all consummed by the flames of their originality of choice? Tom
