New to Restoration

Hello everyone,

I'm sorry if this is not the correct catagory for this, it appeared to the best fitting.
I am new to image restoration, although it is very interesting to me.

I have played with photoshop for several years, and am fairly well aquanited with it, and its functions.

I've read the tutorials here, but they seem to leave large gaps, and well, not cover a ton of information.

Basically, what I am asking is, how do you all get started, and what is a good place for me to start?

Thank you very much, I appriecate any responses.

Kaycee welcome to Retouch Pro

Your right about this web site. It purpose is to work with specific situations and not cover the entire field of digital photography. Several users here don't use photoshop but use other applications like Paint Shop Pro or Graphic Converter etc. Most though are knowledgeable in digital photography.

But I would suggest you start at a fairly basic level and move upwords. Basic but complete in that it will cover the general areas of what photoshop and digital photography does. I would go to a basic photoshop course and after that you can get a feel for what you need to do next. At the course you probably can get specific information where you can make for yourself a photoshop lesson plan.

Good Luck.

Try out some of the online training. eg Total Training or the one I use Do the tutorials on Photoshop. The best one I have found is the "Enhancing Digital Photography with Photoshop"

I covers everything you need to know to get you started.

What do you think of the book by Katrin Eismann, Adobe Photoshop Restoration and Retouching?

It sounds like it would be a good book...

Probably the best book you could buy.
