skin help

I have been playing around with this image in ps cs2, I was thinking about using it for a christmas card, perhaps takeing out the 2 subjects and the tree and putting them on a different background...

How can I fix the skin so that it looks better? and the eyes so that they have some of that "pop"?

Thanks

skin help

I haven't touched the eyes bu for the skin I used color balance and adjusted the midtones by moving the blue/yellow slider to the left for a -59 and then the highlights yellow to -16 and the green to +7. Just a start but I think it looks better on my monitor. Norman

I thought a tighter crop might help. Also, increased some yellow in the skin tones and reduced some of the red in her skin.

Cheers

Hi tb5821

Your latest version still has too much magenta in my opinion.

I'm worried about the man's right eye because of this thread.

It does say that it only affects children under 6 years old.... I think he's a little over the age bracket (but thanks for the link - I'd missed that post)

Eye pop

I'm not sure about the skin, so I decided to just work on cleaning up his eyes (her eyes look okay.)

I used the manual red eye tool in paintshop pro (which is really an eye-maker tool). I made his eyes brownish (just a guess!) Then I did bit of dabbling on a lightening layer to better defines the whites of his eyes--this was a very slight adjustment.

I cropped only because I only worked on his eyes.

Thanks for your comments, but the post does state that it only affects those under 6. And I do believe it to be because of my retouching... here is the original pic.

toned down her highlights.
added some color in various areas of the skin with a blank raster layer and spray paint.
contrast and color correction
smart photo fix
smooth brush
darkened highlights with light/dark brush
cropped tighter
flattened her features a bit and gave his a bit more depth
