Simulating realistic permanent marker?

Hi all,

me again

I am doing a flyer for a little student bar in my city and got a problem creating a realistic looking permanent marker.

Problem is that i have to use a specific font and can not do it with brushes.

When you write with a permanent marker on a transparency, a film strip or any other smooth surface its never looking totally opaque but partially transparent with some scratches, etc...

How could i do that with my font?

Thank you
Alex

1. Type what you want.

2. Choose your typography

3. Make a mask of the text layer

4. Place in the original layer

5. Use the burn tool (shortcut "O" key) 50% presure / half tones

6. Paint over the mask and the effect it's very similar

Another easy way it's just place a text layer with black color.

Then open the layer properties window, do this clicking twice in the blue space following the name of the layer, this in the layer's window.

And move the bottom slider (don't know the name in english) but press alt key (or control, don't know in PC)

move the dark slider to the middle and the image in the background will show.
