At the beach

I'm uploading the original of this photo. I've been working at it trying to restore it to original coloring but I'm not having much luck. Either I get the contrast right so the photo doesn't look so flat (but the color is horrid) or I get the color (somewhat) right but the photo looks flat. Any suggestions would be great, thank you. Hi There

I could not bring back the color even as well. So I picked the best channel and started from there. I cloned the beach where needed then used gradient maps to add a little color. I did not spend a great deal of time and did very little clean up of scratches and such. Depending on what you want you could add a new sky and even some trees on the hillside to cover a lot of damage.

Beach Photo

I stayed in RGB initially and did levels on each channel individually. Next I made a rectangular selection of the sky and used selective color (whites) and blued up the sky some. I decided the clouds on the right where dark gray and left them be.

I then went into lab and fiddled with the water color and used masks.

I used neat image and also the healing brush some. I did not clone in tree tops or clouds as you can readily see.

Oh thank you so very much for your efforts. Sometimes it just helps to *know* that you can achieve an effect if you play with it enough. I was definetly able to achieve better results after seeing these. Thank you again.
