Your daughter is a charming young lady. I basically just did my standard enhancement routine with PhotoImpact. I tilted slightly and cropped for composition also.

First I used shadow/highlight at about 25% shadow to relight the image
then selective colour over the whole image to rebalance the skin tone
some skin resurfacing - wanted to improve the texture and get rid of the 'holiday skin' look without making it flawless - wanted to retained the holiday snap feel
then sharpening, levels and sat adjustment

i wanted to keep some of the natural look under her eyes too....but then i felt it looked like she went a few rounds with laya ali !

-Maybe the 2nd shot is a little more natural looking.

Thought I'd give her a try. Just basic retouching, nothing fancy, heal brush, patch tool, paint in color and normal mode, dodge and burn. Screened the background in a layed, filmgrain. The color is still a little off though ... any suggestions?

Basically its based on this - http://retouchpro.com/tutorials/?m=show&id=213
at a very low opacity followed by some low opacity smoothing with surface blur

Shadow Highlight to bring some of the background back in.
Some skin smoothing (still practicing this, so may not be ideal unlike Flora's)
Roughly selected the head and added a selective colour AL (fiddled with sliders can't remember the settings), so as to closer match the tanning on the upper arm, masked out areas I didn't want affected.
Removed Red-Eye.
Did a final Levels adjust.

This is my first post here, and I was surprised at the 100kb limit, so I don't know how my effort is going to look.

Here's what I did. Copied background layer and set blend to luminosity. Then selected the green channel on the copy layer, and applied the red channel to it in lighten mode at about 80% (maybe 60%). Then I flattened the image.

Then I again copied the background layer with luminosity set. This time I applied the green channel to the image on normal mode at 100%.

Then converted to LAB.

First in LAB I fixed the eyes. I selected the pupils and feathered at 2 pixels, then I made a curve adjustment layer, and played with the A slope to turn the red eye to green. Then increased the slope of the L curve to darken the pupils some.

Flattened again. Created a new layer and applied the A channel to itself in overlay at 100% and the B channel to itself at about 70%. Lowered the opacity to about 40%.

On the background layer I sharpened the L channel at 55, 22, 12.

Then saved as low res jpg for here.

I went natural too...tried to fix color caste in hair and skin. Mostly healing brush for skin texture and selective color/hue-sat for the burn. Lovely girl!
