This is my first post, and I'm pleased I can ask a question in here. I've a large image (409 x 376) and I'm about to resize it down a bit. What I would like to do at the same time is change the image from square to round using Photoshop CS. Could anyone give me some instructions, if it is in fact possible, to convert a square image to a round image please. Thank you in advance. Billy.

Re: Convert a square image to a round image. Do you mean trim it to a circle? or bloat? Or neither..lol First one is simply a circle selection, then invert and delete. Second is the Distort / Spherize filter..applied to a circle selection.Hope it helps, Lasa

Re: Convert a square image to a round image. >>>What I would like to do at the same time is change the image from square to round using Photoshop CS. If you are looking at the Image->Size dialog box and referring to the area at the bottom (shown in my upload) and thinking that this will make a square picture round, it doesn't. There is no option in CS2 to make a square picture (or rectangular picture) round or oval except using Lasa's method. Even after creating a round or oval selection and copying it to a new layer, PS is still going to save the file in a rectangular or square format which will include any white or transparent background areas. In the resizing dialog box, "Square Pixel" and the options in that drop down menu refer to pixel aspec ratios not to the overall shape of the graphic.

Thank you both Lasa and Swampy That's good information you've both given me, and yes it's a circle I'm trying to create out of a square hole. lol However, when I saw your example pic Lasa I realized I could actually copy a circular image (even yours lol) fill the entire image with colour, black in my case, then import my image with its black background onto the copied image. Finally, and I should have mentioned this first, my apologies for my delay in replying. Thanks again, Billy.

Re: Convert a square image to a round image. I also have a square jpeg that I need to convert to a round jpeg. I realize that your instructions were simple, but I can't follow them. On CS2, can you give me a "kindergarten" step by step? Like for example, when you select are you referring to using the Elliptical Marquee Tool? And by importing the image what steps did you take for those? Thanks, Ike

Re: Convert a square image to a round image. Ike, 1. Convert the "Background" image to a layer by double clicking on the layer in the layers palette and then click okay. The new name for the layer should now be "Layer 1" or Layer 0. 2. Use the circle marquee tool and create a circular selection. 3. Invert the selection with the menu item Selection>invert 4. Delete the resulting selection which would be the area outside the circle. 5. SAVE AS a .png.

How to match Facial Colors Thanks so very much Swampy, may I ask another question please. When I clone someone's face on to another body, I can never get the facial tones and colors to match the original. I have tried color match, but it seems to match an overall scheme but not the actual facial colors. How do you do this?

Re: Convert a square image to a round image. You're welcome, Ike. Color matching is an art form and I'm not very good at it. I'm sure it's a matter of blend modes and curves, but I wouldn't know where to start. Hopefully someone who knows will jump in on this one.
