Need help replacing sky I want to replace the sky in this filtered jpeg with a filtered blue sky and clouds: http://farm1.static.flickr.com/176/3...16bcc511_o.jpg I've spent hours researching and experimenting but I could use some guidance. Do I somehow extract the existing sky and move the remaining image to an image of a filtered sky as a background? I've even tried the Replace Color Tool and Replace Color command. Is inconsistent & clunky. Any brief step-by-step instructions with CS2 would be appreciated. trfab

Re: Need help replacing sky My guess would be that it would be easier to work with a non-filtered image. Add your sky and then apply the filter. This was just a quick try and the results leave a lot to be desired. dc

Re: Need help replacing sky See my video tutorial DC is correct. It's easier to fix the problem in the original before you start running filters and stuff.

Re: Need help replacing sky Im not sure if this is what you are loking for. I just created a sky in filters. Then made it a Smart Object. I selected the sky area with the color selector and and replaced with the sky I made. It took about ten or fifteen minutes. It's not fancy and Im not sure if it is the direction that you were looking for.

Re: Need help replacing sky This is in response to how did I produce my work. I used Photoshop CS3 and a Wacom graphics tables and an airbrush pen. CS3 has this new selection tool that is really neat. Simply duplicated the background layer and put a blank layer below and used RENDER>clouds to fill the blank layer. This is very poor workflow, but after adding a layer mask simply painted out the area where I wanted the sky to come through. You can reverse this and put the layer with the clouds on top and lower the opacity to see the picture below and paint in what you want to see. But again this is a very poor workflow to accomplish what you want. dc

Re: Need help replacing sky Somewhat difficult to replace a sky when you can't tell what's sky and what's not. Nonetheless, I just fit a cloud image in a layer set to "if darker", then masked where I thought it didn't belong.

Re: Need help replacing sky Thanks Terry & Lonk. Great results. I am humbled! dc: Been playing with CS3. Definitely gonna upgrade. As altering the sky was an afterthought, it WILL be replaced before filtering with future work. Cheers to all. trfab
