pb with washed out color

Hi,
Does anybody know how to fix the arm of this lady in a realistic way??
What's the best way to fix washed out colors??
Thanks for your help/suggestions,

Re: pb with washed out color

Not very good since most of the color is gone due to the blown highlights.
But ... you already knew that

Re: pb with washed out color

Thanks, Frank. I got the same result as yours.
I was hoping to get a better result, but when the color doesn't exist to start with, it's pretty tough...

Re: pb with washed out color

I don't know if the correction that I made on the arm is acceptable or not. I used the plugin-Color_mechanic Pro.

dc

Just remembered--There was a small area near the sleeve that didn't fill and I cloned it in. Did the color change on a separate layer and reduced the opacity.

dc,
Yep, that's a lot better. I've never heard of this plugin, I'll check it out. Thanks!

Re: pb with washed out color

Not bad at all... And how did you do that? Did you just paint over or did you use curves or whatever other layer?
I know how to fix colors and stuff but I'm not too good when it comes to washed out colors...

Re: pb with washed out color

First used Shadow/Highlight on a duplicate to bring back some highlights. Masked that so it only applied to the arm area.

Selected the S/H mask and added a skin tone color fill layer above the S/H layer. Needed a tad more color so I duplicated the color fill and lowered that duplicate's opacity till I got something I liked better.

Adjust to taste.

Re: pb with washed out color

try going into lab and messing around with the luminosity channel for the arm area. i think i inverted the information, then brought it back into rgb and layed it over with multiply. then adjusted highlight & shadow. i did it very quickly, but there is some information hidden in the blown out areas to play with.

I’m sorry for the late response; I didn’t look at your question.
At first I adjusted the levels to bring all hidden details, and then I lower saturation & used masking + layer blending with a color sampled from the face.
All that I had to do with my old laptop & PSP8, I was out of the country at that time.
