Blurry wedding picture

First, I just want to say thanks in advance to anyone who might be able to help me. We recently had our camera in for a repair that was covered from an advisory Canon issued, and didn't realize until my bro's wedding this past weekend that it's not performing the same anymore - end result is I ended up with having one picture when I had intended on taking another 2 pictures minimum, but my camera didn't cooperate with resetting to take another picture - and the one I did get is out of focus.

Anyways, here's a link to the picture:

I've tried some basic editing on my own in paint shop pro 9, but I just don't have the experience to make a dent in this kind of problem. A friend of mine suggested that someone here might be able to help, so here I am.

I'd appreciate it if anyone has success and is able to help, that the edited pictures be sent full size format to my gmail address *deleted email*. The uploaded version to photobucket is the full size, I'll also attach a smaller version as per the instructions stickied in the forum.

Re: Blurry wedding picture

I ran this through a third party photoshop filter called Focus Magic. Can say it helped much, but thought I would post it anyway.

Sorry Trudy, it isn't possible. If detail isn't there, it can't be created. That's the stuff of movies, I'm afraid.

This is the best I could come up with, using all kinds of plug ins.

... I couldn't agree more!!!! You can get satisfactory results when the blurriness isn't very strong... unfortunately, in my experience, in pictures as blurred as yours you can only aim to get from a blurry shadow to a blurry shadow with sharper (and noisier) edges...

Re: Blurry wedding picture

Thanks for the welcome and the edits. They're definitely an improvement over what was there. I knew there wasn't much hope for a complete rescue, but these improvements are helpful, so thanks so much.

The up side to this, is that we're buying a new camera. It's very frustrating missing shots because the camera won't reset for another picture fast enough, and then having the focal point be off to boot... We did get almost 4yrs of good use out of the camera with great pictures prior to having to send it in for the advisory repair this summer, so I can't complain about that. Just sucks that a repaired camera comes back working worse than it did before...
