How to make FOG

Hi Everyone,
Is there an action or a method to make Fog? I have been using the Gradient Overlay in PS2. It does an okey job but I have a hard time controling how I want the fog displayed. I'm kind of new at this stuff so,If you would be so kind, I would need "Cook Book" type instructions.
Thanks so much.
Dan

Danxt, welcome to RetouchPRO! Nice to have you aboard and hope you learn a lot. Any problems just ask.
Hope you enjoy your time here.

I am not sure of the tools in PS2 but here is what a quick search on Google revealed...

Re: How to make FOG

This is probably the easiest way to create fog. Maybe not the most realistic, but it is simple:
  • Open image
  • Add a layer on top of it
  • Set the foreground color to white
  • Select the gradient tool
  • Set the gradient tool to "foreground to transparent"
  • On the newly created layer, and going straight down, use the gradient tool from the top edge of the picture to the bottom edge
  • Set the opacity of the layer to your liking
  • If you want a bit more realism, with a large, very soft brush with opacity set to 7 or 8 percent, erase lightly the areas that you would like less fog
  • With a large, very soft brush with opacity set to 7 or 8 percent, paint with white the areas that you would like more fog
So the layer with the gradient doesn't get destroyed with the erasing or painting, you can use a layer mask and paint it with white if you want to increase the fog effect or black if you want to decrease it.
