Major skin glow issue

Hey everyone!
I am wanting to get this picture:
http://picasaweb.google.com/timothy....86287674254482
to look nice since it is a nice picture of my mother-in-law and her father who is 92.

The problem is that her face was shining so much that it looks white in the picture. I've tried doing an all-over sun tan, but her face was still way too light. I tried a major job of cloning, but it ended up looking fake. Maybe I just did it wrong ;-)

How can I correct this and make it one to hang on the walls? Also, what are some techniques I can use to correct this in the future in photoshop and through my camera?

Thanks!

Re: Major skin glow issue

it looks more like a color issue than too light or white --- I did a color correction with a curves adjustment and then cloned out some of the shine

I took a try at this. The first thing that I saw was the red cast on the woman's face and adjusted this. Painted, healing brush and the light places on the woman's face and ended with a levels adjustment.

Re: Major skin glow issue

I copied the layer selected just her (his skin tone looked right to me except for a little red around the nose and cheek) and then went to image--adjustments--curves and choose the blue channel ---pulled down just a little to warm up the skin tone---then I used the healing brush a little and clone a little to reduce the shine on her face
