Yet another pic problem..my glowy skin...

Hi. I will post two pics. The one with my mom is more like my real skin but the other pic has me looking like I glow which I don't obviously. I can't fix this and have tried. I'm very new to photoshop and don't know the terms and tricks yet. I use Corel Photoshop X2. Thanks.

You may be able to correct those highlights some. I'm not familiar with Corels' product. But, the concept is the same.

One option.... find an adjustment that allows you to work with just the highlights, like PS's shadow/highlights adjustment.

The other... simply make a curves adjustment layer, create several points that simply lock the curve in place. Then move the highlights down. Mask any areas that you don't want adjusted.

These are basic methods that you should try so that you learn and memorize them. They should take less than 5 minutes.

Well using photoshop your skin has a luminosity of 255, pure white so you can't colorize it using RGB mode. So using curves I decreased the luminosity of you facial skin down to about 235. Then on a separate layer using color blending mode I colorized it.

Re: Yet another pic problem..my glowy skin...

After a closer look, those highlights are "blown out"... basically their RGB values are 255,255,255. So, the only solution is to do a little painting. You'll have to sample good values of skin, paint those in very subtly, and then fine tune the tonality.
Unfortunately, it requires significant skill (I really don't have good painting skills) and lots of patience. You may find some tutorials here on RP. At least you have other images to go by; that typically helps.

Basically paint the colour sampled from the cheek on a blank layer, adjust opacity to taste. Small amount of dodge and burn to control the shape of the face, added a faint touch of noise to the skin so that it looked less "painted" and adjusted overall tone, saturation and contrast of the image. Finished with little high pass layer to sharpen and further increase edge contrast.

Re: Yet another pic problem..my glowy skin...

Hi. I like it except my eyes look weird on there. hehe. However, I do like it better than the others on here but how do I fix my eyes on there? Thanks so much! BTW, could you please tell me step by step in details how you did that? Remember I'm using Corel X2 version and I don't know the terms and such yet. You can pm me or email me this requested info if you want to. Thanks again.
