Re: Double chin problem! bubblebats, welcome to RetouchPRO It is much better if you do not link to images on other servers, since those links can break and that makes the forum thread essentially useless for future readers. After you post your less than 100K version, you could link to a site that is hosting a larger version. Attaching Files or Images to Threads or Posts Size and quality for Attached Images!! There is a video here that might be of benefit. My amateurish try at your photo using the video method Last edited by 0lBaldy; 10-17-2008 at 02:56 PM.

Re: Double chin problem! Bubblebats, You had asked how to do it. Double chins are fairly easy to get rid of by themselves. In a picture they are just two dimensional, and composed of just lighter areas that should be dark. Light reflects off the skin there, when normally it would be shadow. Reshaping is usually not required. Simply sample some of the darker skin on the lower part of the neck line. Use that color to darken the double chin area. Look at someone else's chin in a photo (photo, magazine) to see what your goal is. Work on a copy of your image, then try a few times until you get it right. It usually does not take long.

Re: Double chin problem! This is my first post on this forum, so I hope the attachment works. I selected about half the chin and well down her neck with a fast lasso select. Then Filter>Distort>Pinch. It took a pretty high number... about 88. I didn't do any other retouching, but so far it looks like an improvement. Real quick. I just learned this today on a Layers Mag tute. Cropped and resized so I could attach. micke

Re: Double chin problem! Thanks, OB I knew I had to get it down to 100 kb, so I cropped it and lowered the JPG quality to 6. Still too big... 116 kb. So I resized and resampled and got it down to 98 kb and attached. When it came in as an attachment, it said it was 48 kb! I guess I'm working too hard. I know what it says the file size is in Image Size isn't always real, but I was surprised it was so off. Thanks for the link. I'll read it again the next time I try to post an image. It's funny, but I read a tutorial on fixing sagging chins about an hour before I ran across this thread. In the tute, the model's head was in profile, but in this pic it was straight on, so I wasn't sure the Pinch would work. I thought I'd give it a shot. I was surprised it worked as well as it did! I didn't do any other retouching. It was just the low res shot I dragged off the 1st post. micke

Re: Double chin problem! You are welcome It you are a part time or full time student, you can get the Student Edition for about $200.00. Download load CS4 at the Adobe site to see if you like it. They let you try it for 30 days. I also have Paint Shop Pro Photo, but I prefer Photoshop. That price is a good deal.
