Veryweird, I also posted the image after running it through the "difference mask" process without any further retouching - as a proof of concept. I just pulled out some of the magenta out of the picture.
On my website there is a "before and after" of a woman with a lot of moles and freckles. Of course I did a lot more work on that image than smoothing with my method but basically I got her almost exactly as clear-skinned after one pass of the "difference mask" as she is in the final image. I just had to deal with a couple of darker spots on her chest and finer wrinkles.
Now THAT "after" image I consider finished!
