Help with thinning hair! Hi guys and gals :-) I'm in a bit of a bind, I've got a freshly shot job that my client is needing pictures in a rush (advance publicity) and I need to get two images out ASAP. Now my issue is with the talents hairline is receding and if I can 'help' reverse nature then I'll go a long way with this client! Here's a link to a my quick attempt. No other post has been done to the shot, and it's a 100% crop from a larger image. Mouse over the image for a before and after. http://home.exetel.com.au/iclick/ If anyone has any tips on this type of hair reconstruction it would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks, Paul

Re: Help with thinning hair! The extent to which to do so is always a fine line. He knows it's receding and he knows what he should look like. Yet, for a published image, it would be nice to look just a tad better. So, the extent of which you did it I would consider maximum; no more or others will laugh. I prefer to copy, paste, transform, then erase the front of the hair and skin - basically bringing that front hairline down. The selection does not have to be very accurate, as we then erase on the layer to minimize unwanted areas. Clone behind that piece to merge it smoothly. It looks like you cloned in front, which looks rather fake. Here's a quick example that took literally 30 seconds. The only transforming I did was width. Then a couple of quick clicks using clone.

Re: Help with thinning hair! I have taken a straight, blond hair & treated it with the healing brush + few curves to match colors. It's up to you how low to drop the hair-line. Last edited by chillin; 11-18-2008 at 08:35 AM.

Re: Help with thinning hair! iClick, I forgot to mention, in your image there is an inadvertant clone of the backdrop just to the left of his head (about 10 o'clock). Chillin, Good job ! Maybe there's a market for this kind of work !?
