Need help fixing this blurred/double image I have a picture of my brother who recently passed away, I'm trying to fix one of the last pictures that was taken of him but it is heavily blurred/double imaged. Does anyone know how to fix this problem? You can find the image here: http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j3...galsgame-3.jpg Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Re: Need help fixing this blurred/double image This is a real shame, but there's no good fix for this really. The image is has a combination of camera movement, causing what is commonly called motion blur, and an overall loss of focus. The only filter process that is designed to fix this type of thing is found under filter/sharpen/smart sharpen, but results never look untouched and will create bad artifacts. I found the angle to be about a 50 degree motion blur, but there is also an overall blur to try and remove also.

Re: Need help fixing this blurred/double image look at this link http://www.cse.cuhk.edu.hk/~leojia/p...ing/index.html SIGGRAPH Papers are a few years ahead of the game - they may get put into commercial software in the future. Sometimes the researcher will post his/her code for download - I don't see any in this case. http://kesen.huang.googlepages.com/sig2008.html Rastermon Last edited by Rastermon; 11-25-2008 at 05:32 PM.

Re: Need help fixing this blurred/double image jabberdoo, The others are right, it is a hard one without spending an enormous amount of time on it. The basic corrections don't do it justice. I tried just to see if there was any difference in the subjects vs the background. Not much. Anyway, here is one possibility. If you like it at all, just right click my name and send me an email.

Re: Need help fixing this blurred/double image there's not much i can add to what has already been said - i've sharpened it up as much as i can without making it worse. bigger version here: http://i445.photobucket.com/albums/q...ngalsgame4.jpg Last edited by neil351; 11-26-2008 at 04:16 AM.

Re: Need help fixing this blurred/double image Maybe I exaggerated a bit the colors, but I think it gives a good idea of the person

Re: Need help fixing this blurred/double image Thank you Swampy, but Focus Magic should take the lion's share of the credit. Getting the motion blur angle and pixel shift took a bit of fiddling with. I also left the background out of focus to try and accentuate the subject.

Re: Need help fixing this blurred/double image Well, I can see that if you are doing restoration or retouching that, Focus Magic would be a great tool to have in the tool box.

Re: Need help fixing this blurred/double image Very difficult photo and sorry about your brother. I decided that I would take it a different way then sharpening. I started out with Exposure ADJ and masked a lot until even. I then used the patch tool to clean, and liquify to reduce the double image. Next, I used some D&B, painting with colors, and copying certain parts (eyes) in new layers. Lastly, I Corrected Brightness & Contrast, levels (blacks), and hue/sat. Just a diffrent way to think about things... its a non-sharpen sharpen... Hope this helps, -Keven

Re: Need help fixing this blurred/double image Thanks for all your help and efforts guys. I really appreciate it. I was able to get a decent fix using Focus Magic and playing with the settings until I found an acceptable look. Here's what I came up with. http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j3...lsgame-3fx.jpg
