Question Help correcting white sky

Hi, Dear Friends, Happy Thanksgiving to the American people. I took this colorful photo downhere in Venezuela's street, sadly my compact camera was in ISO 400 and I couldn't miss the opportunity (the man with the pink shirt walking and the big red passing in front of the pink and red old house). I was able to put everything to my taste with curves but the sky is so overexposed! I've tried selective contrast and got ugly effects. What do yo suggest to get a cloudy, expressive sky to frame my colorful street? Thanks in advance.

Re: Help correcting white sky

Here is a quick, but effective for sky replacement in situations such as yours.

1. Make a Selective Color adjustment layer above your background layer.
2. From the drop down menu in Selective Color, select White. Check the Absoute option at the bottom of the window. You can experiment, but try these values; Cyan +33, Magenta +17, Yellow -7, Black +1
3. The sky will be uniform in tone and color. You can adjust opacity if you like or on the layer mask draw a graduated mask diagonally across the sky. Sky tone tends to go "whiter" toward the horizon. Or you can use a soft, black brush and paint on the mask.

Re: Help correcting white sky

a bit of shadow/highlight adjustment plus a curves adjustment brings out the natural sky... finished with a little sharpening makes a nice picture

Re: Help correcting white sky

Create a mask & use it to blend your new sky.

Christian... I have two video tutorials on my home page for fixing or replacing skies. The link is in my signature.

Or search the tutorials here in RTP for them...
