Anyone Have A Quick Fix To Remove Seams/Shadows? Does anyone have a quick fix to remove dark or light seams from wallpaper or to remove shadows in order to have the image be one contrast in Photoshop? An example would be a disturbing cast shadow on a textured wallpaper and trying to remove the shadow, but match the lighting exactly and so there are no telltail lines that expose a correction or retouch. I have experimented with exposure and shadow/highlights under Image Adjustments. Somewhat successful, but I am wondering if there is an easier way to get even light through a whole image. Another example would be if an image had a large stain on a patterned wallpaper and trying to remove the stain and match the fix to the unblemished wallpaper perfectly. And of course the goal to this operation is making sure edges of the patch don't show up. Any help is vastly appreciated, Thanks for your help and here is an example of an image that shows what the challenge is Last edited by SteveB2005; 12-08-2008 at 12:32 AM.

Re: Anyone Have A Quick Fix To Remove Seams/Shadow I just developed this technique today...first talked about in more detail here. I have been working with this plug-in found here(its free). Lifts shadows more: Duplicate background>>use plug-in at max>>blending mode screen>> Duplicate layer>>Invert>>blending mode luminosity>> opacity 10% >> Put both layers in a folder>>create folder mask>> fill black>> paint shadows away with white at med (20% ish) opacity You can use this not only for this but also for all shadows. I created the below thumbnail in about 3 min, took longer to type this...lol. It could use more fine detail masking but it shows proof of concept. Hope this helps, -Keven Last edited by igot2pman; 12-08-2008 at 03:15 AM.

Re: Anyone Have A Quick Fix To Remove Seams/Shadow I decided to ponder more into different ways to AUTO remove the shadow. After lots of messing, I came up with the overly complicated action in the zip file. It actually contains two actions (works with CS3/4 deff), one is the auto version (KA- Shadow remover) and the other is an action version of the post above (KA- Shadow Ultimatum). As you will se when you run it, the auto version may make the graphic a bit to light. More fiddling may result in the proper color but as it’s just a thumbnail, I will stop here and let you finish it off. Recommendation: use the "KA - Shadow Ultimatum"(prior suggestion), and paint white. -Keven Last edited by igot2pman; 12-08-2008 at 03:18 AM.

Re: Anyone Have A Quick Fix To Remove Seams/Shadow I used a 50% gray layer (Soft Light) and painted with a soft, white brush at 25% and 10% opacity. Increased the contrast some and sharpened. Juergen

Re: Anyone Have A Quick Fix To Remove Seams/Shadow I'm not sure how to post an image but I'll try. I used a feathered selection then brought the darkened part to the luninosity of the rest of the image and the right side of the image refined with a d&b.

Re: Anyone Have A Quick Fix To Remove Seams/Shadow Hey thanks guys, you all are amazing! I was hoping to get some ideas out there about an easy a fail safe method to remove shadows, but maintain the pattern or texture of an image. I'll try these techniques out and let you know my results. Can't seem to find the plug-ins recommended. I have a MacBook and Photoshop CS2 steve Last edited by SteveB2005; 12-08-2008 at 10:34 AM.
