Harsh shadow fix Hi there, I have an image of an uncle of mine that has very harsh shadow on one side of his face. I only want to know whether the image is able to be fixed or whether there's simply too much shadow. And if so whether it can be fixed using gimp and what techniques I should use. I do have a slightly higher res jpg (500kb) Cheers.

Re: Harsh shadow fix Well in photoshop I used the color sampler tool and you will note the the subjects right side hair is the same as the background so it will be difficult to separate the hair from the background without selecting one or the other and making it lighter.

Re: Harsh shadow fix If GIMP has Shadow/Highlight filter or controls it should work fine.. A better scan might help, especially if you want to use a FFT filter to remove the texture
