I need Help

I need help...on making pictures look like they do on album covers and magazines....i was doing it for a friend as a surprise, but im new to photoshop so am way over my head...is hard to get something to look good....i know how to manipulate text...and other graphics...but im lacking in the retouching and image enhancing department, i would love to se them be bright......!!! anyones help will be great....

Unfortunately, your 1st, 2nd and 4th example links are incomplete (get rid of the ...'s) and fail.

However, the 3rd gives us an example. Enhancing contrast can be very subjective. You could use a Curves Adjustment Layer, then pick a contrast from the drop down. Once close, adjust to your liking. Sometimes you have to paint using a low opacity soft black brush on the included white mask to lower the effect where you don't want it.

Another suggestion (since you're not up to speed yet) is to download a plug-in, like from Topaz Labs (http://www.topazlabs.com/topazlabs/0.../topaz_adjust/) and use it. It is a very effective one-stop-solution. Although it costs you, it could be well worth the investment over the next year or so.
