Re: How to pull change the green background?

Use color range to select the green. Then make a layer mask and replace or change whatever you want. If you just want a simple color change, use hue/sat in a new layer and put the mask to it.

Re: How to pull change the green background?

Never seen color range do that... But what is going on is that is a reflection of the green BG. Model is too close to the BG, 5-10Ft is the norm.

As hopefully you’re using a mask... just paint with white on the mask to reveal the effect you’re using over the bad areas. Pint with a soft 50% opacity brush and work slowly.

If you just use Hue/sat and select the BG, then manipulate it; it will still give you that green reflection.

Hope it helps,
-Keven

don't be a stranger to L*a*b color mode!

10 second curve....of course you may have to do some tweaking along the edges, maybe not.

Re: How to pull change the green background?

I used my "Masking the Sky" tutorial, but instead of masking for Blues I went for the greens by really blowing out yellows (in the black and white adjustment layer step).

Cleaned up a copy of a resulting channel and applied that mask. Then did an Image>Adjust>Match Color to switch out the green tones in the boy's face and hair to reds.

Re: How to pull change the green background?

Hue\Saturation Adjustment Layer targeting the 'Greens' ...Using the '+ color picker' sample as much as possible of the green background...

(Attachment 1) Tweaked values
(Attachment 2) Result just after this procedure ... some hard edges..

Create a Blank Layer (you can name it 'Blur') above the Hue\Saturation one and use the Blur Tool to smooth the hard edges .... (Increase or decrease its 'Strength' as necessary)

Create another Blank Layer set its mode to 'Color' , and using a soft (fuzzy) brush (20 to 40% Opacity), sample colour from the surrounding areas and paint over the still 'greenish borders.

(Attachment 3) my final result.

Re: How to pull change the green background?

I used the Extract Tool to get rid of the background and made a new o a layer beneath. Most of the color spill was changed with Replace Color. Some that was hard to get rid of ( that had both green and colors from face for instance ). I made a Hue & Saturation Adjustment layer with saturation to zero to make it black and white. I masked only the greenish parts and the painted in Overlay mode on a layer above, the more correct colors.

Rather hasty done, so a lot of imperfections.

Re: How to pull change the green background?

Here is my stab at it , i used copy and paste feathered boy then cloned inside selection to refine the edge , brightness/contrast and selective colour adjustment layers, then hue saturation on background.

Re: How to pull change the green background?

Had a quick go , not complete but indicates an approach by creating a mask from the green channel the D&B , which can then be used for a total isolation of subject &/or for use with a defringing technique of painting along edges in color mode whilst sampling nearby colors to replace bg green fringing , I also used a hue/sat layer to desat the sampled greens & increased sat of skin reds etc.

Cheers , Mark
