need some suggestions on the background of this picture. I have made it all black but it leaves to big of an empty space on the left. Plus different patterns. None seem to work and am out if ideas. Thought I would give you all a try on something new.

Made a diagonal cut and brought them a bit closer together.. cloned the couch and mis-aligned stuff from the original.. a bit of noise reduction.. sharpened the eyes on a separate layer.. cropped to a 5x7... posted

how about blurring the background and lightning a bit ? ( used the quick mask for selection)

I used light painting to emphasize the Mom and the baby,
also I added a pretty frame.

Gave mom and baby some color and blurred the back ground a bit.

I removed the background & replaced it with a gradient and texture. Then G blurred a bit. Momma's dress gave up a selection to cover the white strap and her hair did ditto on her neck. Liquify tool to just round out Baby's ear. Perhaps a PS filter could be used to add a glow or grain. Your Baby is absolutely precious.
