Where to begin...

I already removed an ugly stump that was in the back ground... but i really don't know what to do from there. Any suggestions. I have photoshop though my skills are lacking but i can do some stuff. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Dang Pureblood, Don't even get a chance to say Welcome to RetouchPRO before stuff gets scrapped!

Aartist adjusted your picture close to the 'Golden Triangle' which makes things look better, not 'Bermuda Triangle' which makes things dissapear...
The composition can be adjusted many ways.. I asked myself which is more important the studly guy or the tree.... the tree had to go..

So, in response to your statement, "I really don't know what to do from there. Any suggestions."

I give you one of many options..

Oh Yea, Welcome to RetouchPRO

ok i like how you darkened the corners.
I tryed doing it with the brush with 10% opacity but i couldnt quite get it. Can anyone tell me how you did it?

But it looks a lot better like that with the tree gone. Good suggestions.. Thanks.

I cheated because it was a quickie example... I used the history brush set @ multiply... 100%.. super large soft brush.. made the picture small and went all around the border with about 3/4 to 1/2 of the brush outside the picture.. made one pass.. used edit>fade to lessen the effect some.. then changed the brush to Normal and made it small enough to cover the head of the man and cleaned up most of the person from the over-spray

Re: Where to begin...

Wow as Ol Baldy says hold on to scrapping stuff
that is a lovely photo and there are lots of options as you have already seen
so here are a few other ones
instead of removing the tree i have moved the tree closer ! and cropped
made a b&w
used topaz adjust

there is some pixelating due to the size issue

keep hold of your photo's as your knowledge of photoshop improves you can then go back to your photo's

and here is a tut to create a vignette for your corners ( different from how Ol Baldy done his you will find there are loads of ways to do things just some are quicker than others )
