Removing green noise from picture, Help please!

Hello, My name is Jacob, 21 years old.

I wanted to ask for help, from anyone that is willing to help.
My best friend Joel had a dog named Grizmo which passed away
after 14 amazing years of friendship, and my friend is very sad.

I wanted to do something nice for him and i found these two pics
from not too long ago, i want to retouch, quality print and frame
them, and give it as a gift.

the pictures as you can see have alot of green noise because the
camera was not good and the lighting was problematic also, i know
nothing about PhotoShop or taking pictures, i did my best with
photosohp and got some improvements, im going to upload the pics
here and if anyone is willing to do this for me, that would be much
appreciated, he deserves it... and if you also have a guide (that's
simple enough for someone that just started using PS today) that
would be amazing as well.

TY
and sorry for the insane requests.

Re: Removing green noise from picture, Help please

Here is my attempt: http://img2.abload.de/img/repairepw1.jpg, hope you like it :-).

1. Opened up the shadows with "Filter"-"Corrections"-"Shadow/Highlight"
2. Removed color noise with "Filter"-"Blur"-"Surface Blur" on "Color"-mode
3. Removed luminance noise with "Filter"-"Noise"-"Reduce noise" and a non-edge-mask
4. Tried to re-balance the whites.

Edit: Ups, wrong link.

Re: Removing green noise from picture, Help please

Qayin,
The others did a good job, but could have done better with a higher quality image. The images you posted had a lot of streaking from the scanner you used. Also, the term "green noise" can be a bit confusing to experienced Photoshop users; we think in terms of color channels, and may wonder if you are referring to noise in just the "green" channel. Another person may wonder if you mean the streaking, etc, etc. So, you may want to be a bit more specific on what you need help with.

You could achieve some pretty good results yourself if you rescan and then apply the workflow they used. Since everyone likes Cupcakes results (and they are good), why don't you ask for the workflow and then practice at home. Once the streaks are gone, the color correction tends to be much easier.

Re: Removing green noise from picture, Help please

Hey tommy

Thank you for the input, but these pics were taken with a 6210 nokia
cellphone and were digitally trasfered to the computer, they were
never printed and scanned.

I just want to say that this forum is the most inviting forum i have
EVER posted in, so many people with talent, and instead of sending
out the message that you are better then other people, the more
talent you have, the more will you haev to help the peopel that
ask for it.

I can't really 'pay you back' but i can tell you that you've made my
week, and it'll prolly mean alot more to Joel...

Thank you.

Re: Removing green noise from picture, Help please

Well I used a curves adjustment layer to increase the contrast and on top of that a HSL adjustment layer to decrease the green and blue in the streaks. Finally Neat Image to reduce the noise some.

I used the default settings and there is still some noise. But with more tinkering I think you can get a better result.

Re: Removing green noise from picture, Help please

Qayin, Welcome to RetouchPRO Hope you enjoy your stay here and make lots of friends.

Just a suggestion.. why don't you clean it up as well as you can then make a painting out of it?

I copied the background (Ctrl+J) put it in screen mode.. (Ctrl+J) again... merged all layers (Shft_Ctrl_Alt+E) cleaned up the red channel... replaced the blue and green channels with the red cleaned version... used a noise removal program (Imagenomic Noiseware) and used a few actions I have accumulated from here at RetouchPro... the final step was to save it as a Jpeg and bring it into Fotosketcher and used the Painting 2 settings
