Re: Very pretty girl with lots of potential

All other comments have been positive, so sorry for this criticism; I find the necklace distracting. When I focus on the face/eyes my peripheral vision sees the red beads as "wardrobe malfunction," and the brown bead as a huge mole. Otherwise I love the dreamy photo.

Re: Very pretty girl with lots of potential

A really nice start image to work from.Pretty girl, good lighting, good focus and plenty of colour tone in the image. It really only needed a slight contrast brightness to improve it.But i had a play anyway.Mainly burning in certain areas(duplicating layer, set blending mode to Linear burn and then use layer mask) shadow highlight adjustment, and increase saturation(change hue) on background.

Now to see if i can successfully upload it.....(1st time)

Pete.

Re: Very pretty girl with lots of potential

Thanks for everyone taking the time to work on this photo. Kinda of cool that it is still being looked at this long after I initially posted it.

Re: Very pretty girl with lots of potential

Here's my stab at it. Is it okay if I post this to my portfolio/s online, provided I credit you as the photographer?

Re: Very pretty girl with lots of potential

There are some really cool treatments on here but you need to get it right in the camera first. Even the folks at Photoshop will tell you that right off the bat to learn photography before diving in to the craft as a profession. On this shot your exposure is boarderline okay (you need to learn lighting) and the pose is a good start - but in no way a sellable product even with the effects unless you just want to be a snapshot artist.

I DO NOT MEAN THIS as a smart A$$ answer but I checked out your flicker page and can tell you need to do a lot of studying before considering making money at this craft.

Every person who buys a decent camera thinks that now they are ready to print up the business cards and open shop. You are on your way and have the drive I am sure. But before getting too excited take some time and get some technical knowledge under your belt. Not talking about taking a shot and trying to make it good in Photoshop. I am talking about learning the basics of camera handling, composition, art, form, posing and most important lighting. Check out your area possibly there are some classes you can get into, you must learn the fundementals.
THEN and only THEN are you ready to start making money from your work. Anything else is a disservice to you and to pro photographers in general... Have patients it will come but you gotta learn the craft before planning on making money. You are on the right track. I have been shooting since the 10th grade and I am 50 and I learn new photography skills each and every day. I also went through formal classes, internships and college, and studied with people like Ansel Adams and Dean Collins, before I even considered making money or advertising skills in photography.

Keep up the good work. It will come if you have the drive to learn.....
She is a pretty girl and you have a good start on the mood and I love the location.
