Photo frame help

This is my first post, and I do not have an image to upload - but I hope to explain my question in a way you may be able to help me.

I am looking to make a boarder around an image, but the board is made of of the and enlarged/blurred copy of the image itself. I've seen other do this where it looks like they have blown up the original image, and then placed a copy of the image on top of the enlarged copy of the image. The original image sitting on top of the enlarged image appears to have a drop shadow on it as well.

Does anyone have a method/process for creating this type of boarder? Does this technique have a name (I can't find it on google or bing)?

Thanks for the help, and I hope I don't get slammed to bad for not having an image of this - as a photographer I don't like copying someone else's images.

Chris

Re: Photo frame help

Yes, very similar. I was thinking the drop shadow to be on the inner picture - to make it look raised - but I think you have it

Is there a name for this technique? Some hidden actions that do this - or is it all a manual process?

Thanks!

Chris

Re: Photo frame help

I changed the drop shadow so it is on the image.

Not that I know of, but there could be of course.

I did it manually, there are probably many ways to do this. I just made a dup, blurred the image, put the original on top in normal mode at a reduced size. Used a filter for the drop shadow, raised button effect.
