Newbie Wife's maternal Grandmother

My mother-in-law gave my wife a photo of her mom. This photo was taken in Honduras in 1929. It is the only known photo of my wife's grandmother.

It was given to me to try and fix. (probably, because I own a canon dslr).

I have no idea where to begin.

I have played with it in photoshop. My results are bad at best.

I would appreciate any help or ideas where to begin.

Sincerely,
santisurf

Re: Wife's maternal Grandmother

Very nice photo. It's in very good condition.
You should be able to make a quality restore for framing.

I use Paint Shop Pro, so someone should give details for Photo Shop, which is what you will be using.

Re: Wife's maternal Grandmother

I'm using PSP also but I didn't do anything that Photo Shop can't do. A whole lot of cloning and a fair amount of smudging. I copied the collar from the left side and kind of worked it in on the right. Used some levels adjustments on the faded parts and later over the entire photo. I'm not good with fixing patterns like the one on the carpet. I think Photo Shop might be better for that.

Re: Wife's maternal Grandmother

WOW! I just returned from North Carolina and could not believe my eyes. They are both beautiful. I could never have done this. I never expected someone to retouch the photo.

I am very grateful and appreciative of both of you for making an 80 year old lady happy.

Sincerely,

Santisurf
