using caculations to select hair/moustache

using caculations to select hair/moustache

hi ihave attached an image

iam using the caculations, try to make a selection of the man moustache,

selected caculations
scource 1 red channel source 2 blue channel

inverted the blue channel and use overlay mode subtract in the blue channel also, and i used the levels to increase white and the selection on the moustache .

my qeustion is this this the right way to select this moustache and
using subtract is that taking away the blue channel

see the selection on the black and white image is not great
cheers please any help

and i need to repost the image in the thread as there is the selction missing image 1 is to small, does any1 know how i can?

Your thumbnail is too small. 25.2kb
Save your original photo in larger format, up to 100K.
800pixel x 600 pixel

Hansolo, welcome to Retouch Pro. Resize your images to approx 600 x 400 pixels and save on the highest quality jpg you can keeping the image below 100KB limit. You can attach up to 5 images per posting. After you attach your first image just click the browse button and navigate to your 2nd image and so on. When you are done just clock the close window button.

ok ive posted the image file size 100kb at 800 by 600 pixels.

posted my calculations attempt

and the image moustache which i am trying to make a selection of, but the main objective is probaly better understanding of calculations,
