Smile Mottled/Splotchy image

Hi - I am new to Retouchpro but am very thankful for such a fine resource. I am about to start the repair of the image but the "texture" on the image has stumped me - it seems to be on all channels. Any suggestions for a repair technique would be greatly appreciated.

With thanks,

Rob

Rob, Welcome to RetouchPRO Hope you enjoy your stay here and make lots of friends. Poke around, ask questions, have fun!

To facilitate using Channels for retouching when scanning these older photos scan in color to possibly put the imperfections on different color channels

On this image I used Imagenomic Noiseware (other noise removal plug-ins would work also) . I used the patch tool for the areas not corrected by the noise removal

Re: Mottled/Splotchy image

Many thanks OB - I thought the solution was going to be a long difficult process - the filter made quick work of the problem.

Re: Mottled/Splotchy image

Well I used Neat Image which is a similar noise reducing program. And in addition I copied the layer and used darken as the blending mode and added a black layer mask and then blurred that layer with a median filter. I then painted in over some of the larger whitish spots

Healing brush, clone, patch, noise filter, grain... worked at 300 % on retore with a 100% view to the side.

Handsome men indeed.

I used the dust filter and noise filter in CS3.
