help with double chin

I am very new to photoshop and the first thing I really want is to make the double chin go away in this picture. I tried a few things but it ended up looking distorted. Any help?

This is how I would do it: Make a duplicate layer, this is your working layer. Now, select her entire chin area and some of the neck around it and then copy to a new layer. Make this layer invisible for a while. Go back to your working layer and go to liquify. You can take the pucker tool, or you can use the nudge tool and gently push up the double chin area, getting rid of the double chin. She should have a nice smooth looking new neck area and a somewhat distorted chin, don't worry about that. Now go back to your copied layer that you made invisible and turn it on. Put a mask on this layer and paint back in the edges of her original chin. Merge, then you may have to go back to liquify to do a little reshaping and then maybe do a little burning to darken the area to make a bit of a realistic shadow.

In most portraits, it's better to apply digital makeup rather than to perform digital plastic surgery with the Liquify tool. People look more like themselves. Find the contours of the thin face (and neck) within the face and put everything else in shadow. This is what I did in my version.

I also reduced the shine on your faces. Judging by the sweaty t-shirt, it must have been really hot!
