newbie trying to remove shadows?

I am trying to remove the shadows from my friends daughter dress and the gold eagle in the background. I am new to photoshop but I have cs3, can someone please help??

Since you have multiple images with the same problem (other image), there are numerous threads here on RetouchPro that address this issue.

Not sure what you are looking for
Had a little play simply using:-

CS2
Adjustments - shadow/highlight
Added another layer to intensify the gold eagle

Mainly trying to remove the shadow outlining the subject from the flash angle.

I think this is what you mean?
This is what I came up with.
Using Cloning, selective colour, Levels AL and layer masks
